01

Earn Catalysts with repeatable Lantern loops

Earn Catalysts by defeating ordinary enemies, then rest at a nearby Lantern to respawn them; the Marketplace barn and the battlefield beyond Onslaught Arch offer repeatable encounters. Equip Surplus for extra Catalysts from kills, and spend your earnings at Lanterns on survival and upgrades that suit your weapon.

02

Prepare your Lantern before leaving

Rekindle your chosen Lantern so it becomes your respawn point. Resting restores Health and Nephtoglobin and brings ordinary enemies back, making another clear possible. Bosses and Enraged enemies with glowing red eyes stay defeated, so leave those encounters out of a repeatable farming loop.

Choose a stretch you can clear reliably and return from comfortably. Start with nearby enemies before extending the route into unfamiliar ground. Compare how safely you finish each attempt, rather than choosing a route only because it contains tougher targets.

03

Repeat the Marketplace barn encounter

At Fallen Village > Marketplace, the barn directly in front of the Lantern triggers a group of five villagers. Its doorway lets you gather them together for attacks that hit a crowd. Keep this encounter as your whole loop while you learn to handle the group.

  1. Enter the barn directly ahead of the Marketplace Lantern to trigger the villagers chasing you.
  2. Back up to the doorway so the pursuing enemies gather in front of you.
  3. Defeat the gathered villagers to collect the Catalysts awarded for their kills.
  4. Return to the Marketplace Lantern to finish the route beside its reset point.
  5. Rest at the Lantern to revive the villagers for another attempt.

A level 6 Blunderbuss with Collateral Damage can kill all five villagers with a single shot. Fire Transmutation also lets you apply Ignite to enemies gathered together. Finish any survivors before returning, and use whichever approach you can repeat comfortably.

04

Clear human enemies from Onslaught Arch

The Battlefield > Onslaught Arch is another option for fighting human enemies along a familiar path. The Pistol or Musket can be used for headshots through the battlefield area. Try this route if you prefer aiming at individual targets to handling the barn crowd.

  1. Follow the battlefield path from Onslaught Arch to reach the human enemies in the area.
  2. Defeat enemies with aimed headshots to earn Catalysts while practicing your ranged accuracy.
  3. Retrace your path to Onslaught Arch when you reach the end of the stretch you want to repeat.
  4. Rest at the Lantern to restore your resources and respawn ordinary enemies.
05

Collect Surplus near the Old Mine

Surplus increases the Catalysts you receive from enemy kills. Equip it through the Levelling menu at a Lantern before farming. Its copy near Caverns > Old Mine is reached through the mine-cart tunnels, using the shortcut ladder and moving box as landmarks.

  1. Follow the route from Old Mine into the tunnels with moving mine carts to find the ladder between the tracks.
  2. Descend the ladder in the first tunnel to reach the area beside the shortcut back to the Lantern.
  3. Walk back past the ladder to enter the side path leading into another area.
  4. Follow that area to the lever that moves a box up and down, marking the platform section.
  5. Climb the platforms on the right to reach the chest containing Surplus.
06

Recover your earnings after a death

Dying drops every Catalyst you carry, and you respawn at the last Lantern you Rekindled. Return to recover the dropped Catalysts before another death, which permanently removes them. Make recovery your immediate goal instead of continuing the farm with earnings still on the ground.

  1. Retrace the route to your death location to reach your dropped Catalysts.
  2. Collect the dropped Catalysts before risking another encounter that could erase them.
  3. Spend recovered Catalysts on a level at a Lantern to turn those earnings into progression.

Remnant's Return absorbs Catalysts lost on death without requiring a trip back to their location. Sands of Time returns you to the last visited Lantern with your Catalysts preserved, while resetting the world. Fading Light also returns you to a Lantern, but drops your held Catalysts where you use it.

07

Spend levels on the method you actually use

Catalysts pay for both levels at Lanterns and purchases from merchants. Choose your next improvement before starting another loop, so you have a reason to stop and spend. Prefer the finite upgrades that fit your weapon before putting earnings into repeatable upgrades.

UpgradeDetails
Maximum HealthAdds 10 Maximum Health per purchase. Prioritize it when surviving the return trip is your main problem.
Melee DamageAdds 3% melee damage per purchase. Take it when your farming kills mainly come from your blade.
Parrying ImpactAdds 5% Posture damage to parries per purchase. Choose it when parrying is central to your encounters.
Maximum EnduranceAdds 5 Maximum Endurance per purchase. Consider it when you regularly exhaust your Endurance during a clear.
Nephtoglobin ExtractionAdds 15% Nephtoglobin gained from melee hits per purchase. Use it to support a loop that mixes melee and Transmutations.
Ammo RestockAdds 2 Pistol rounds and 1 special round to Lantern restocks per purchase, supporting routes built around firearms.
08

Respec when you change your approach

You can reset the skill tree by spending Catalysts, so your early choices do not lock you into a build. Check the displayed reset cost before confirming. Use a reset when you have settled on a different weapon or farming method, then direct your upgrades toward that approach.

09

Use Catalyst Clots when you are ready to spend

Using a Catalyst Clot adds its value to your carried Catalysts, which can then be dropped on death. Use Clots at a Lantern when you are ready to buy a level. Buying a Clot costs double the Catalysts it provides, so purchasing them will reduce your earnings.

If you completed An Unheard Farewell by telling the truth, rest at a Lantern and return to the carriage for an Epic Catalyst Clot. That Clot provides 700 Catalysts when used. Treat it as a quest reward to supplement your levels, and use enemy loops when you need repeatable income.
